ABOUT US...
Our
Mission: Prismatic Magic is a school assembly provider
and high-tech laser show company in one. Our primary
mission is to inspire students of all ages to seize the
opportunities that science and technology offer to enhance
their educational and professional development (we also
throw an incredible party when ‘fun’ is the only thing on
the agenda).
Founded in
2002, we are laser scientists and teachers who have pooled
our talents to develop a revolutionary
learning environment by combining science, technology,
art, and music. Our selection of school programs explores
a wide range of topics – from science to character
enrichment to history to culture – in an exciting and
refreshing way.
Thanks to
word-of-mouth, we have become one of the most prolific
assembly providers in the country, reaching more than one
million people and twenty-five hundred schools since our
inception in 2002. We are also the fastest growing school
assembly and laser show provider in the nation, largely
because most schools who have had us once now invite us
back every year.
Our
Pedagogy: As educators, we understand that information
+ motivation = education. Over the last decade, school
districts have spent a tremendous amount of time and
expense to ensure that their students have access to the
latest scientific tools and methods. Classrooms have never
been so well-stocked and teachers so well-trained. Yet,
startlingly, the latest U.S. Department of Education
national assessment (2004) clearly shows that elementary,
middle, and high school students’ proficiency in science
has largely remained flat (4th and 8th grades) or has
actually decreased (12th grade) over the last ten years.
Why?
We believe, as
do a growing number of educators, that this alarming trend
is primarily due to over-emphasis placed on information
and insufficient attention placed on motivation. Today’s
kids are bright but are also highly-distracted. Piling
more classroom hours and homework on unmotivated students
is not the answer. Instead, educators and parents must
recognize that they have to compete aggressively for
students’ attention and interest, especially when it comes
to science and technology. That’s why Prismatic Magic’s
laser programs are always designed to rival the
entertainment value of the latest video game or music
video first and foremost. Once children define something
as ‘cool,’ most of the learning obstacles immediately
evaporate.

consumers of today into the technological innovators of
